

Mary Ann (Stauffer) Durst, age 58, of Oak Point, TX passed away on March 18, 2016. Mary was born in Kane, PA on November 1, 1957 to the late Joseph and Dorothy (Hassenetter) Stauffer. Mary graduated from Kane High School in 1975 and received her Nursing Diploma from E.J. Meyer Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Buffalo, N.Y. in 1978. Mary also received a BS in Math from the University of Texas Dallas.
The evening of Mary’s Nursing School graduation, James (Jim) Durst proposed to Mary. On February 17, 1979, they were united in marriage. Jim and Mary welcomed two beautiful children in to this world Thomas James and Lori Beth (David Simons), both of Frisco, TX. Mary was truly excited when she became a grandmother to Riley Elisabeth Simons a year and a half ago.
Mary was an RN working in the Operating Room for many years before joining United Healthcare.
Mary is survived by her husband (James), son (Thomas), daughter (Lori) and husband (David), granddaughter (Riley). Mary is also survived by her brothers: Gerry (Carol) Stauffer of Erie, PA; Joe (Sue) Stauffer of Kane, PA; Steve Stauffer of Erie, PA; Dan (Emi) Stauffer of Woodbury, MN; sisters: Barbara Stauffer of Carrollton, TX; and Susan (Richard) Kwarciak of Denver, CO and Bay Village, OH. Mary is also survived by two sisters-in-law: Judy Gentry and JoAnn Neumeier of Columbus, OH. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Mary was a very devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Mary enjoyed sewing, landscaping, travelling, baking cookies, reading, and shopping with her sisters.
Friends may call at the Dignity Stonebriar Funeral Home, 10375 Preston Road, Frisco, TX on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.
