Mary K. Starrett

Mary Starrett of Prosper, TX, passed away on April 27,2022 after battling dementia for 15 years. Mary was born on November 16, 1930 to George and Willie Mae Grimes in Hebron, TX. After Mary graduated from Tech High School in 1948 she later married Charles Curtis in Dallas, TX.

Mary is predeceased by her parents George and Willie Mae Grimes, her brothers H.L. Grimes, Claude Grimes and James Grimes and a grandson Justin Burleson. Mary is survived by brother Carl Grimes, daughters Cathy Harris, Charlie Blackmore, Donna Owens and Stacy Garrett. Mary has 4 grandsons, Chris Harris, Jason Busby, Bradley Burleson and Clifford Burleson; 9 great-grandchildren, Devin Harris, Logan Harris, Garrett Busby, Megan Harris, Jordan Burleson, Conner Blackmore, Maddix Burleson, Mason Burleson and Maverick Beale; 3 great-great-grandchildren Skylar Busby, Carter Busby and baby Blake Busby due in July 2022.

Mary devoted her life to raising her four daughters mostly as a single mom. She had at least one daughter at home for almost 70 years. She loved watching the Texas Rangers on TV and was a avid reader but was losing her site rapidly. She loved to crochet until the dementia made her forget how.

Mary’s Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 15, 2022 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm at the private home located at 2201 Bradford Dr. Prosper, TX 75078
