Melissa Joy (Lehman) Clay, 42, of Richardson, TX, formerly of Toledo, OH, passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2019. She was born in Toledo, OH to Albert and Linda (Hammond) Lehman. Melissa was a 1995 graduate of Start High School and graduated from The University of Toledo in 1999 with a degree in Social Work. She enjoyed her profession as a Medical Social Worker and was currently employed by Texas Back and Spine Institute. Along with being in love with her family, she was passionate about caring for her patients. Melissa always made sure they were cared for properly and understood options available to them.
She loved to watch her son, Grant, play baseball and enjoyed rooting for the University of Michigan and the Detroit Tigers. She and her daughter, Arianna, loved watching movies snuggled up together and having wonderful conversations. Melissa loved life and was always willing to help others. Her laugh was infectious and she could always be counted on to pull off a prank of someone.
Melissa is survived by her children, Arianna J. Clay, Grant R. Clay; parents, Al and Linda; fiancé, Daniel Hall; siblings, Beth A. (Robert) Cummins, Paul A. (Carla) Lehman; the father of her children, Scott R. Clay; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary Street, Perrysburg, OH 43551 (419-874-3133), until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. which will be officiated by Pastors Duke Crawford and Bruce Snyder of Emmanuel Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Fort Meigs Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Melissa’s name to the charity of the donor’s choice.
