Michael Andrew Vogel was born on January 2, 1969 to John Jr. and Ernestina Vogel. He was the youngest of 5 children, growing up in Tucson, Arizona. As a child, Michael loved to jump from the roof to the pool and could be found creating elaborate trenches with little green Army men, then blowing them up with fireworks. This crazy, energetic spirit created several nick-names such as “Big Dog” and “Little Shit”, among more endearing ones like “Mikey”, “Mike-ito”, and “Chaparrito de Oro”. Michael was stubborn and hot-headed… but his kind, thoughtful, giving, selfless, funny, and honest way of life was a true testament to how he lived his life. Michael loved watching sporting events, attending car shows, and reading History books, but his love for Christ was above all.
Michael graduated from Clear Creek High School in 1987 then went on to the University of Houston. He was an accountant and CPA for 19 years, a member of Knights of Columbus and member of St. Gabriel of Archangel Church in McKinney. He loved celebrating Cinco de Mayo and Easter with Cascarones. His favorite place to be was on the lake with friends, enjoying tequila shots and cigars with his family, or anywhere with his great nieces Makenzie and Madison.
“Dude” was a very common word in Michael’s vocabulary. It was his favorite word in fact. A few other favorite “things” include Star Wars, Marvel, Game of Thrones, the Beatles, Queen, and the Rolling Stones.
He was preceded in death by his father John Joseph Vogel, Jr.; sister Laura Solorzano; and niece Jennifer Renee Murphy. He is survived by his mother Ernestina Garcia Vogel of Frisco, TX; sister Martha Tuttle and husband Ronald of Frisco, TX; sister Susanna Murphy of Frisco, TX; brother John Vogel and wife Daphne of Chula Vista, CA; nieces and nephews Laura Baker, Jonathan Baker, Ronnie Tuttle, Kassandra Vogel, Kevin Vogel; great-nieces Makenzie and Madison Baker; and fur baby Kate.
Michael loved his family fiercely. His kind heart, giving nature and one of a kind laugh will be forever missed through time and eternity.
