

Pietro Fiannaca was born January 25, 1932 to Rosa and Giuseppe Fiannaca in Realmonte, Sicily during World War II. Pietro was very happy when the Americans landed in Italy because the soldiers would give him chocolate and cigarettes. As a teenager, he went to work the land with his father but did not enjoy the hard physical labor. Instead, Pietro bought an ice cream cart and went around town selling ice cream to all the children. At age 18, he was drafted into the Italian army where he served for two years and learned how to cook and become a chef.
The life of the party, Pietro enjoyed entertaining people with his music, either with his accordion or his guitar, and singing. He was kind, lovable, very hard working, provided for his family and told lots of jokes. He worked as a Chef for many years and later worked at Kodak. Pietro enjoyed hunting, gardening, making and drinking wine, cooking, playing his accordion, and listening to Italian music. He loved attending Festa di San Giuseppe, Festa di San Calogero, and Mandorlo in Fiore. His favorite singers were Claudio Villa and Luciano Tajoli and he enjoyed watching war related movies. His favorite place was his land in Italy. He built a little cabin there that he loved to take care of and enjoy its beauty. Pietro and his wife Francesca were married for 62 years.
Pietro is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Francesca Fiannaca; parents, Rosa and Giuseppe Fiannaca; and sisters, Carmella Alletto and Anna Fiannaca.
He is survived by his brother, Carmelo Fiannaca of Germany; daughter, Rosetta (Vincent) Alonci of Spencerport, NY; son, Giuseppe (Laureen) Fiannaca of Little Elm, TX; grandchildren, Rossana, Salvatore, Peter (Sarah), Salvatore, Gianni, Joey; great grandchildren, Vincenzo, Giuseppe, Gino, and Nina; and many nephews, nieces and friends.
