of three sons born to Austine and Herndon Murray. He graduated from Huntsville High
School and went on to Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado where he pledged
Sigma Phi Epsilon, served in many leadership positions and developed his love for Coors
light! He majored in Chemical and Petroleum Refining Engineering. In 1965, he married his
high school sweetheart, Lydia Foreman. They had three children: Krista Diane, Joseph Todd,
and Robert Matthew. Bob worked for DuPont initially; but, after several years, he and his
office mate, Bob Webb, decided to leave DuPont and start their own fire protection and
safety company - Webb, Murray and Associates in LaPorte, Texas. After 38 years, the
company was sold and Bob retired in 2010.
Bob’s hobbies included coaching basketball and baseball, organizing a summer youth
program for his Lutheran church, serving on the YMCA board, fishing, hunting, golfing,
enjoying wine with his closest friends, singing in the church choir and karaoke. He loved
country music especially George Strait!
Bob loved Christ and was known for loving people with his welcoming personality and
contagious laughter. If there was someone he didn’t know, he would quickly introduce
himself. He was the definition of a “people person”!
Bob and Lydia moved from Seabrook, Texas in 2012 and settled in Frisco Lakes Retirement
Community in Frisco, Texas. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in July 2015.
More than anything Bob loved spending time with his family!
Bob leaves behind a family who looks forward to seeing him once again in heaven: wife, Lydia; daughter, Krista, and
son-in-law, Chris; son, Todd, and daughter-in-law, Gracie; son, Matt, and daughter-in-law,
Pam and his pride and joy, eight grandchildren - Meagan, Zach, Connor, Cade, Cash, Chloe,
Meredith and Elizabeth.
