Sandalio Ruiz Sierra was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother in Christ. His life experiences allowed him to move to different countries and States throughout his life; but he spent his happiest last years in Frisco Texas. Here he had the opportunity to fulfil his dream of owning a home, where he enjoyed spending time personalizing his yard.
Before moving to Texas he spent almost 24 years in New York and New Jersey where he devoted his life to the Lord by serving his community through his gift of music with his guitar. Sandalio would travel across the State to bring comfort, joy, and support with his music and his guitar to those grieving a family member, to the sick, to those in need of emotional support and to worship La Virgen de Guadalupe.
Sandalio was a naturally lovable individual who build close relationships with everyone around him, especially with his grandchildren and his children who never let him grow old. One memory every one of his grandchildren have of him, is playing his guitar in the kitchen table with his chocolate con concha. He brought endless laughs and smiles with his young soul and his goofy dances – He was the definition of sunshine on a cloudy day, as his granddaughter Frida described him.
He always watched his family from afar and found the most joy in observing their happiness. He loved having family gatherings all of us having the best conversations eating and laughing. Every birthday no matter what, he would play Happy Birthday to all of us with his guitar. Giving was his purpose in life, giving without expecting anything in return.
He was the perfect example of it is never too late to start again and to give yourself a second chance to find your purpose always in the name of the Lord.
Sandalio would want his legacy to be carried on through the love and passion for food and music. His children and grandchildren will carry his legacy to help others no matter what obstacles are on the way, to put a smile on someone’s face when they are down, to show love through giving and accepting everyone equally.
“Despite everything, there is always music” he used to say when times weren’t so perfect. THANK YOU mi Viejo querido for giving us so much.
