Sharon Dee Devoto passed away peacefully on May 12, 2026, in Frisco, Texas. Born August 5, 1958, in Dallas, Texas, Sharon was the beloved daughter of Frances Mangold Straughan and Milton Straughan, both of whom preceded her in death.
Sharon lived a life defined by dedication, intelligence, kindness, and a deep love for her family. She graduated from Lake Highlands High School in 1975 and later earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Education from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1989.
Throughout her career, Sharon touched many lives working in education, private sector, and public service. She was often considered the “Office Mom” who took care of her colleagues while also making sure tasks got completed. Beginning as a business education teacher in Cleburne, Texas, Sharon inspired and encouraged her students with patience and care. She later worked for many years as an office administrator with Coldwell Banker in the Dallas area, where her professionalism and warm personality earned the respect and friendship of many colleagues.
One of Sharon’s proudest accomplishments was her work at the Pentagon as a financial management analyst for Headquarters, US Marine Corps. From 2012 through 2023, Sharon was part of the accounting team whose dedication helped the Marine Corps become the first military service to successfully pass an external financial audit. In recognition of her service and commitment, she was awarded the Commendation for Meritorious Civilian Service in 2023.
Outside of her career, Sharon found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved reading, solving puzzles, baking for her loved ones, playing domino games such as 42, and relaxing with reality television. Above all else, Sharon treasured time spent with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren. Being their “Noni” brought her immense happiness and pride.
Sharon is survived by her loving husband Kim Devoto; her son Mathew Devoto, his wife Amanda, and grandchildren Isaac and William; her daughter Amanda Devoto and her husband Jonathan Lopez; and her siblings Stephen Straughan and Nancy Mitchell.
She will be remembered for her nurturing spirit; unwavering service to family, friends, and co-workers; and the warmth and laughter she brought into every room. Sharon’s memory will live forever in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
