Shirley was born in Denison, Kansas, and lived on a family farm near Valley Falls. She studied at the University of Kansas and finished her degree in accounting with honors at Washington State University. She then went on to achieve her Certified Public Accountant certification.
Shirley was a dedicated wife, mother, sister, and church member, most recently at the Woodlands United Methodist Church in the Woodlands, TX. She enjoyed reading, Bible studies, traveling, and playing the piano both at home and at church.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Russell T. Dorr of McKinney, son Russell B. Dorr of Little Elm, sisters Doris McAfee of Overland Park, Kansas and Mary Fike of Centennial, Colorado, grandchildren Madison Smith and Spencer Dorr, and great grandchild Ethan Smith. She was preceded in death by her daughter Katherine Dorr and brother Dale McAfee.
Arrangements are with Stonebriar Funeral Home in Frisco, TX. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
