Sirous Sharghi, 81, of Prosper, Texas, passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2024. He was born on January 7, 1943 to the late Aziz & Homa Sharghi. Sirous was born and raised in Shiraz, Iran, the eldest of five children. As a child, he enjoyed playing ping pong and playing the accordion, as well as being an active member of the Boy Scouts. Sirous attended and graduated from the school that his father and grandfather founded and managed, Ebn e Sina. After graduating high school, he attended and graduated from Shiraz University with his B.A. in English Literature.
At the age of 21, with a dream to start a new life for himself, Sirous embarked on a hopeful journey as he immigrated to the United States to further his education at Michigan State University. Shortly after, he relocated to Ohio to attend Akron University where he met his first wife, Patricia, the mother of his first born son, Aaron. Sirous and Patricia went to Iran for a year to help his grandfather and father with the school and local newspaper. Sirous longed to return to the U.S. and returned toOhio where he began working for Zayre Department Store, where his lifelong career in Retail Management began. Zayreeventually relocated Sirous to Virginia. Over the years, while working for Zayre and, later, Service Merchandise, Sirousrelocated to Maryland, Indiana, Missouri, and eventually ended up in Texas in 1986. He retired from Service Merchandise in 2002, and continued to work for a few years for Comp USA and Sprint until retiring again in 2005. Over the years, he was truly admired by his coworkers and his staff. He was considered a mentor and a good friend, as he truly cared for people and their development.
Sirous enjoyed all life had to offer and found joy in the moment. He enjoyed cooking (especially Persian food), gardening, and whatever type of music he could dance with. Sirous had a love for cars and electronics, and always wanted the latest and greatest of everything. He also was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys for many years. Sirous battled and survived cancer and didn’t let that discourage him, as he had too much to live for. Simply, Sirous was just a good man, a good friend to many, and never met a stranger. His warmth and welcoming demeanor impacted so many and made people feel special. Sirous had a zest for life, and was blessed with a wonderful sense of humor but had the worst jokes! Making people laugh was easy for Sirous, and it brought him great pleasure.
Sirous truly considered it an honor to be in the United States. On July 5, 1985, Sirous became a proud U.S. Citizen and has bled red, white, and blue ever since. His love for our country was deep and unwavering. Part of Sirous’ American dream was fulfilled on the day he met his wife, Jay, whom he married on July 12, 1975. He truly adored her with his entire being with his admirable devotion to love, protect, provide, and romance her. Sirous and Jay had four beautiful daughters – a total of five children that he fiercely loved and supported. Becoming a grandfather was another wonderful blessing that Sirousdelighted in. He had a servant’s heart for his family and those he cared for. At the age of 75, Sirous found Jesus and was baptized, and now has eternal life as he has entered his Heavenly home. Sirous will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him. His legacy of devotion and love for family, pride for our country and life itself will live on in those lives he touched.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Saeed Sharghi. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 48 years, Jay; his children and their spouses, Aaron & Jeanne Sharghi of Rome, Italy; Jennifer & Randy Weston of Wylie, Texas; Joanna & Billy Shirley of Prosper, Texas; Jayme & Jeremy Trietsch of Sanger, Texas; and Ashley & Jay Ylda of Haslet, Texas; ten grandchildren: Talan, Amira, Parker, Kendall, Audrey, Juliet, Charlie, Jaxon, Prestyn, and Reese; brother and sister-in-law, Saifi & Arman of San Pedro, California; sisters, Susan Sharghi of Torrence, California and Sohaila Sharghi of Shiraz, Iran; and sister-in-law, Khorsand Sharghi of Shiraz, Iran. With deepest respect and gratitude, the family extends their heartfelt appreciation to Nichel for not only the love, care, and support she gave to Sirous during this time but also to the entire family.
