Born in Rapid City on June 27, 1947, Alan was the son of Dale & Rose Pepper. He grew up with three brothers and a sister. Alan enjoyed a lot of outdoor activities growing up including hunting and fishing. He graduated from Rapid City High School then joined the Marines during the Vietnam Era. He proudly served his country from 1966-1969 as a radio operator and a marksmen. Following his honorable discharge, Alan went to work for South Dakota Cement Plant as a heavy equipment operator. He retired in 2002.
In 1974, Alan married the love of his life, Delight Thielsen, in Sturgis, South Dakota. Alan & Delight settled in Rapid City where they made their home and raised their family. They were blessed with two sons. Alan was a loving and supportive husband and father who always put his family first. He cared dearly for his boys and was proud of all that they did. In September 2025, Alan & Delight moved down to Loveland, Colorado, where Alan wanted to live before he died. At the time of his passing, they had celebrated 50 wonderful years of marriage.
Alan was a good man with a big heart. He tried his best to be kind to others and get along with people. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and boating. More than anything else, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be forever missed and forever loved.
Along with his darling wife Delight Pepper, Alan leaves behind his sons Michael and William Pepper, and three grandchildren. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, two brothers, a sister-in-law, nieces and a nephew.
A Celebration of Alan's Life will be held later in the Spring in 2026 and he will be placed to rest at Fort Meade National Cemetery in Sturgis, South Dakota. Military Honors will be rendered in recognition of his service to his country.
