Arthur John Gallegos was born on June 3, 1946, to Edward Elias Gallegos and Ernestine Vigil Gallegos, in Fort Collins, Colorado. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Martha, children Kari (Sid), Mathew (Karen), and Jeffrey (Katie), eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, his brothers Jerry (Donna) and Rudy (Sunni), along with numerous nieces and nephews.
On March 27, 2024, after enduring various health complications, Art was 77 years old when he passed away at the Poudre Valley Hospital. He was a faithful servant of Jehovah God for more than 66 years. He fought a valiant fight and stood firm for his faith until the last moments of his life. With his family at his bedside, he looked at them and whispered, "You are beautiful family. Stay together."
Art’s family originated in the San Luis Valley, where authentic values were a way of life. Eddie and Tina together taught their boys those values - hard work, determination, loyalty, generosity, and Faith. Their family business, established in Northern Colorado, was known by many. Gallegos Sanitation Inc. and Wyoming Disposal were legacy businesses that earned accolades over the years. They were known for genuine customer service, their commitment to integrity and excellence, and a conviction to care for their family and employees as one.
In 1965 Art married Marty whom he always called his “Partner" and soon they were climbing Colorado mountains and fishing in the back creeks with family and friends - these were some of Art's most cherished times. Marty was always a willing adventurer by his side – if it was just to take a drive and find a little bridge over a creek where he could toss in his Mepps spinner and pull out a beautiful trout. Throughout the years their adventures led them to places all around the world; Hawaii, Europe, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Canada, along with annual family vacations and numerous road trips. Art loved to drive - singing along the way, stopping for coffee and pie, and he always seemed to find the best snacks everyone in the car could enjoy. These are the memories his family will cherish.
For all that knew Art - family, friends, business associates, and community members – you are warmly invited to his viewing service and a Celebration of Life: Viewing on Friday, April 12, 2024, 6-9 p.m. and Saturday, April 13, 2024, 11a.m-3 p.m., at Allnutt Funeral Service & Celebration of Life on Saturday, April 13, 2024, 5-9 p.m. at the Fort Collins Marriott Hotel Ballroom.
