

Brian was born in Berkeley, California on August 15, 1943. He is survived by his wife, Jeanie; his son, Kevin (Cyndi); his four grandchildren, Austin, Cooper, Trace and Levi; his brother, Bradley and his sister, Beth Myers (Ken). Brian and Jeanie were married for 62 years.
Brian served in the Navy as an Aviation Electronics Technician from August 1961 until August 1964. He then began his college education while working in various positions in Oxnard, California. In 1967, he transferred to San Jose State University and graduated with a B.A. in Psychology in 1969. He continued his education at San Jose State, earning an M.S. in Clinical Psychology in 1972. In June of 1972, Brian was commissioned as a Lieutenant JG in the U.S. Navy’s Medical Service Corps as a Clinical Psychologist. He completed his Ph.D. in Psychology at United States International University in 1977 while serving in the Navy. Brian’s duty stations included Brunswick Naval Air Station in Maine, Bethesda Naval Hospital in Maryland, Newport Naval Hospital in Rhode Island, Corpus Christi Naval Hospital in Texas, the US Marine Corps Doctrine Center, and Quantico Naval Medical Clinic in Virginia. During his time in the Navy, Brian also taught Psychology classes for satellite campuses of Park College, Embry-Riddle University, and New Hampshire College. Brian retired from the Navy in 1990 holding the rank of Commander. He then began his private Psychology practice and served clients until his retirement in 2005.
Brian’s creative interests included stained glass projects, artistic painting, playing the guitar and jewelry making. He was a life-long learner and participated in the Mankind Project, which focused on men’s emotional well-being.
Brian and Jeanie moved to Fort Collins, Colorado from Virginia in 2012 to be close to their family. Brian found new interests in retirement including the practice of Qi Gong and attending OSHER classes in a variety of subjects.
Brian enjoyed being closer to Kevin and enjoyed meeting up with him at the gym and being a part of the growing family’s life. He had great admiration for Kevin and Cyndi’s parenting of four active kids. He loved taking his grandchildren on local adventures. He was their biggest fan while watching them play sports and watching Kevin coach their baseball teams. He took considerable pride in watching their musical and theater programs of which there were many with two of the boys majoring in Music Theater.
Brian’s friends, family, and the many people whose lives he touched will remember him as kind, gentle, witty, and wise. A Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring.
