Clyde grew up on a Nebraska farm. He graduated in 1950 from Kimball High School in Kimball, NE. After graduation, Clyde worked as a ranch hand in Walden, CO and Northeastern CO. He married Sarah Ann (Allen) Nelson in 1954. They had 5 children together: Sheryl (Neal) Rakes, Patricia (Bill) Bokelman, Deborah Nelson, Dale Nelson, and DeWayne Nelson.
Clyde married to Zelma Faye (Harper) Nelson on July 11, 1987.
He worked at the Great Western Sugar Factory in Johnstown on the boilers. After his retirement from Great Western Sugar Factory, he worked as a handyman for several property owners in the Fort Collins area. After 2 knee replacements and 3 hip replacements, he officially retired and began his hobby of woodworking and scroll saw art. He sold woodworking and scroll saw art at local craft fairs throughout Northern Colorado. During his retirement, Clyde & Zelma traveled in their RV and became Winter Texans in the Rio Grande Valley area.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, 2 siblings, wife Sarah, and infant son DeWayne.
He is survived by his wife Zelma, children Sheryl (Neal) Rakes, Patricia (Bill) Bokelman, Deborah Nelson, Dale Nelson, Wendi (Brock) McKinney, and Betsy Harper; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
