

David Edward Diener who was born on April 2nd, 1951 in Buffalo, New York to Edward and Esther Diener, passed on Saturday, March 31st 2018 from complications with pancreatic cancer. He was 66 years old.
David attended Hesston Mennonite College and later attended Ball State University on a soccer scholarship completing a degree in industrial engineering. He completed a Master’s degree in Project Management from CSU in 1983 and started a career in construction management primarily focused in the medical industry. He worked for Kaiser Permanente for 22 years and ended his career with UCH completing the new emergency wing at Poudre Valley Hospital in 2017, after which he retired. Fulfilling a childhood dream, he moved to Colorado in 1979 and has resided in Fort Collins for almost 40 years.
David was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing, skiing, hiking, and biking. He celebrated his retirement with a trip with his son and son-in-law to Alaska to fish for salmon and halibut. David conquered several 14ers over the years, and while Fort Collins was always his home, he was an extensive world traveler having visited 5 continents.
David had a deep love for humanity that was demonstrated through extensive volunteer work including helping to build a high school for the Native American population in Gallup, New Mexico, and extensive fund raising for the National Sports Center for the Disabled. While never forgetting his Mennonite roots, he was a devoted member of Immanuel Christian Reformed Church for over 30 years, and served many terms in leadership roles. He married Carol Dey in 2001 and they had a happy 17 year marriage.
David is survived by his wife Carol Dey, his daughter Kelsey Bell, son Tyson Diener, step-sons Chad and Chris Helder, his brother Larry Diener, his sister Diane Omondi, and five grandchildren. He was deeply loved and will be dearly missed. His memorial will be held on Saturday April 7th, 2:00pm at Immanuel Christian Reformed Church, 1900 S Taft Hill Rd, Fort Collins, with reception to follow. Memorial donations can be made to Rehoboth Christian School in care of Allnutt Funeral Service.
