He was born on December 2, 1993, at Presbyterian/St. Luke's Hospital in Denver to David and Cathy Beers. Diagnosed before birth with a rare heart defect, his parents were pleasantly surprised when he was able to come home after only four days in the Neonatal ICU.
At four months old, Devin faced his first open-heart surgery. Despite predictions of blindness, deafness, and inability to walk, he defied the odds, showing incredible resilience that inspires admiration and pride in those who knew him.
After attending Olander Elementary and Webber Jr. High, Devin “graduated” from Rocky Mountain High School in 2013 to a standing ovation from most of those in attendance. As an adult, he was enrolled in day programs where he could socialize and continue learning, both in their facilities and through trips into the community.
Devin loved everyone and never met a stranger. His standard greeting, “nice shoes,” brought smiles to people’s faces everywhere. His favorite things were SpongeBob SquarePants, school buses, and -obviously – the color yellow. He loved to color pictures that Mom or Dad would print out for him, going on walks to the park to play on the swings, giving back rubs, lots of hugs, and helping out at home.
Devin’s family moved from Ft. Collins to Windsor last summer. He loved his new room, with space to display his toys, books, colored pictures, and all his SpongeBob stuff.
Predeceasing Devin are his grandparents, George and June Beers; his Granny Nancy Morgan; his uncle and aunt, Ted and Nancy Beers; and his uncle, Glenn Stewart.
Surviving are his parents, Grandfather Lynn Morgan, brother Sean Beers, half-brother Christopher Johnson, Auntie Sandy Stewart, uncle and aunt Greg and Christi Morgan, and cousins Kelly Viergutz, Matt Beers, and Michelle Morgan.
A memorial/Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 pm, January 29th, 2026, at Vineyard Church of the Rockies – 1201 Riverside Ave., Ft Collins. There will be a casual reception to follow.
Instead of flowers, contributions can be made to ARC of Larimer County – 1721 West Harmony Rd. Ft. Collins, CO 80526.
