Dolores M. Bernal (Dodie) of Longmont peacefully transitioned with family after a brief illness. She is survived by her daughters Teresa Bernal-Valdez and Cecilia Bernal, her sisters Eleanor Olivas, Rose Lira, Beverly Ribera and her fur babies Cheetara and Casper. She is preceded by her parents Louis Ribera and Julia Ribera (Melendrez), brother’s Louis and Johnny Ribera. She had three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
A longtime resident of Longmont, Dolores as a child used to play with goats, swing on the tire, was paid $.25 to comb her sister’s hair so she could make money to buy candy, along with playing along the river of her childhood home. She then graduated from high school after berating her sister for making her graduate. She worked as a waitress with amazing customer service. She then transitioned to a construction painter and sales associate of Walmart. Every family member has her painting artistic touch on their house. She did attend Front Range for beauty school.
Her special interests, hobbies and activities included her love of all God’s creatures, knick knacks, coloring, thrifting, going to the movies, her treasured Toyota called Bluebird, making enchiladas for all the family, long conversations with her cousin. She relished rellenos and finished off the day with a cold Budweiser. Her heart was compassionate for the homeless. Her favorite color was red for lipstick and her prized nails. She delighted in Mexican music.
