Hey dude, Chuck Fry, ya class-mate peetz, co 1957 I lived on the Jack Casement ranch, & all ya Robert's lived a hop,, skip , jump over the hill on ya dad's ranch.., we worked together stack'n hay (peavy ranch) , & on the oil rigs, (ya brothers Bob & ras) was our boss'es, & we worked for the same-o Public Service Co. of colo, you in gas co(ft. collins)., & me transmission lines in Denver. 30 yrs!! so my high-school, friend, have a safe trip, & a nice journey, & I'll see ya someday on the other side of the rainbow!!

I am so saddened by Don (and Rose too) passing!  When Ron and I first got married and worked at PSCo, Don and Rose were some of our closest friends, and spent alot of time together.  When we moved to Denver area, we lost track somehow, but I still thought of them often, remembering fun times with the crew from Ft Collins division!   Ron and Don umpired together, Rose and I (and a few other girls from office) did Ceramics every Monday, and the guys all played on a men's softball league for years!  Don became our ""Coach"" and we all still recall the time he got so frustrated at a ump call, he threw down his hat and was jumping and stomping on it (the ump still kept the call, but Don was so dedicated to his guys!) Never forgotten!  I feel like a part of my family has been tasken away - we spent so much time with the Roberts' clan, i felt like they were my own family!  Love and Miss you Don and Rose - but realize you are in a good place now, painfree and together again!!

Sweet, quiet Don and I were also classmates for 12 years and lived in the same ""neighborhood"".  Yet we had no adjacent fields as to wave to each other from the tractor.  Had Don, Allen, and Jim been girls and Deanna not lived so far away we would have been the best of friends!  Don and I survived living in VERY small houses with lots of siblings. I tried to write a tribute to a long time friend and neighbor Don Roberts but failed to get it shared with you all.  Don and I grew up on adjoining farms west of Peetz.  We along with Jim Nelson attended Peetz schools for all 12 grades and played football and basketball together.  When we were farming during the summers we would wave to one another across the fields while on tractors.  We would often drive together home following foot
ball practices or after games.  I recall he had a Model A if I recall right and the only heat for us was hot air coming directly from the manifold off of the engine.  Since we rode the same school bus and on the long ride
the bus driver would let us play on the bus in the aisles - I would center the ball to himand he would pass it to me -  when we got more children on the bus he would just tell us to return to our seats for the rest of the miles to Peetz.  In all those years I never recall having an argument with him.  The Roberts were great neighbors.  We lived in what everyone called the Willeford valley and the Roberts lived in what was the Roberts valley.  

I surely wish we could have a good visit with his family -  sorry for your loss

I'm having a hard time putting words together for this post. Donald D was Mr Wonderful in so many ways. He treated me with the utmost respect as my boss and with love as a friend and part of his family. We laughed together, we worked together and we cried together. He was like a brother to me or a father to me in so many ways. He and Rose were inseparable and I know that they are happy together again. Thanks for being such a large part of my life you two. I will never forget either one of you.......Love you! Joy

Don was my classmate in Peetz from 1st grade through 12th grade and I considered him as a best friend.  Also served in the Army at Ft Hood, Texas with him from Jan. 1962 to Jan. 1964.  We renewed old stories at each of our 5 year school reunions.  Our class of 1957 are passing on slowly but surely.  Don, the best to you in your next journey.

Papa, I love you so much. Your passing has left a huge hole in my life and in my heart. I will always cherish my time with you and remember everything you taught me. You and Mom made me the strong, independent, loving woman I am today. Give Mom a big hug and kiss for me. Love you your very proud daughter.

Don, your departure from this world is going to leave a hole that will be hard to fill.  We are surely going to miss you.  I always had the utmost respect for you; your commitment to work, your ethics and your wonderful ability to engage and communicate with those people that worked for you (at Public Service).  I am smiling now as I think about the office party where we talked you into roller skating around the office.  We watched you crash and burn several times but every time you got up and flashed that huge Don Roberts smile on your face. I can see your smile now...

“If you wish to glimpse inside a human soul and get to know a man, don't bother analyzing his ways of being silent, of talking, of weeping, of seeing how much he is moved by noble ideas; you will get better results if you just watch him laugh. If he laughs well, he's a good man.”   No doubt heaven is filled with so much laughter as the Roberts boys share their joyful reunion.

Dan, Kara, Shari, Mike ,Steve, and Kena our thoughts and prayers to you all. Don was fun loving would do any thing for any body have fond memories of him and Rose.

What a ""wonderful"" photo. He has the look in is eyes and the grin I knew and loved.
