Doris N. Schmidt, 83, of Fort Collins, CO passed away on October 23, 2013. She was born on March 9, 1930 in Windsor, CO to Henry and Molly (Lichtenwaldt) Bechtholdt. Doris was a Colorado native! She married Reuben Schmidt on September 25, 1949 in Fort Collins, CO.
She worked for the Poudre R1 District. Doris was also a head cook at CSU. She retired in 1989. Doris was a member of First Christian Church. She loved gardening, working outdoors, walking 5+ miles a day and biking. She grew up on a farm and was a hard worker her whole life.
Doris is survived by her son, Reuben Schmidt, Jr. (Leslie) Fort Collins, CO; daughter, Sandy Spence of Loveland, CO; brother, Larry Bechtholdt (Betty) of Cheyenne, WY; sisters, Mable Wickstrom of Spokane, WA, and Eleanor Sperber of Fort Collins, CO; 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 brothers, 2 sisters and 1 son-in-law.
A Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Monday, October 28 at Resthaven Funeral Home with the Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. The interment will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church or to AccentCare Hospice in care of Resthaven Funeral Home.
