Born in Kingston, Pennsylvania on March 10, 1947, Jim was one of seven sons welcomed by John and Anne (Wilce) Christopher. Following high school, Jim proudly served his country in the United States Navy. While living in California in the spring of 1987, Jim met the only woman he would ever love: Roberta Robertson. Following a brief courtship, they wed in Las Vegas, Nevada in October of the same year. They relocated to Loveland, Roberta’s former and beloved home, in 1988 and there they remained for 35 years.
Jim was a hardworking man and worked as a powder coater for Walker Manufacturing Company in Fort Collins until the progression of his Parkinson’s disease compelled his retirement. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus as well as the American Legion Post 15 in Loveland, where he and Roberta regularly hosted a monthly breakfast. He enjoyed watching NCIS and Barbequing in the summer. He also enjoyed watching WWE with his eldest grandson, Joe. Though he didn’t get out on the green as much as he would have liked, Jim really loved to golf. He was quiet and contemplative. He was kind, thoughtful, and well humored. Jim loved his family and always put them first. He will be dearly missed.
Jim leaves behind his wife of more than 36 years, Roberta Christopher; children Peggy Barthel (Tony), Kathy Tumbleson (Kerry), Tim Thorell (Pauline), LeeAnn Williams, and James Sissom (Tammy); grandchildren Joe, Denise, Sarah, Corey, Stephanie, Casey, Willie, Stomee, Bailee, Frankee, Dustin, Enchandra, and Brittany; and his great-grandchildren Maverick, MacKenzie, Luci, Savannah, Piper, Evelyn, Cameron, Aubrey, Sharon, Nakota, Carter, Lorelai, Dean, Sky, Nova, and Aurora. He is also survived by his brothers Barry, Don, and Kevin; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family. He is greeted in Heaven by his parents and by his brothers Ron, Randy, and Raymond.
Services will be held on Monday, July 29th, 2024 at Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Parish in Loveland. The Rosary will be prayed for Jim at 10am and his Funeral Mass will take place at 11am. A Memorial Lunch will follow. Jim will be placed to rest at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Fort Collins at 2pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are welcome to a charity of choice. Treasured memories of Jim and words of condolence for his family are welcome at resthavencolorado.com.
