Jerry Lee Phillips, 77, of Windsor, Colorado passed away Friday, October 18, 2019. Born in McLeansboro, Illinois, he was the son of the late Paul and Reva Phillips. Jerry graduated from McLeansboro High School in 1960 and Southern Illinois University in 1965 with a BS in Agriculture. Jerry continued at SIU to attain a Master of Science in 1966. While in high school, he met Kay Lue Gladden and they married while they both attended SIU.
Jerry worked in the agricultural chemical industry and held a variety of positions in sales and management in Missouri, Nebraska, Illinois, and Colorado. He particularly enjoyed the period of time he held the position of President of Loveland Industries. He retired as Executive Vice-President of United Ag Products in 2002 and has filled his days since with golf, travel, sports, and family. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and his Nebraska Cornhuskers. He will be remembered for his strong family values, his sense of humor, the twinkle in his eye when something amused him, and his willingness to share his opinions on politics and sports.
Surviving are Kay Lue, his wife of over 54 years; his two children, Julie (Tom) Findlow of Green River, WY., and Chad (Jenny) Phillips of Naperville, IL.; his four grandchildren, Ryan, Sarah, Nick, and Jake; his sister, Betty (Larry) Rowland of McLeansboro; two nieces, Kelly (Greg) Gollaher of Nashville, IL., and Stacy (Bryan) Henderson of McLeansboro, IL., and more aunts, uncles, great-nephews, and cousins than we can count.
We will gather together to celebrate Jerry’s life at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 26, at Resthaven Funeral Home at 8426 S. Hwy 287, Fort Collins, Colorado 80525. A reception will follow. Burial will take place in McLeansboro, IL at a later date, including a reception for local friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society, two organizations that are meaningful to our family.
