Juanita was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her first hobby and greatest priority in life was her family, whom she loved immensely. She married the love of her life, Alfonso “Fons” Rodriguez, on January 14, 1967, and together they built a life centered on family, love, and unwavering devotion to one another for nearly 59 years.
She was a proud and loving mother to her “babies,” whom she cherished deeply: Arnold; Kenny (Colleen); Michael (Erica); and Christopher. Her joy multiplied with her grandchildren, whom she adored: Steven and his fiance Kaylie, Mikayla, and Rachel.
Juanita is also survived by her siblings: brothers Moses Montoya (Katy), Ron Montoya (Arne), and James “Jim” Montoya; and sisters Louise Renner (Patrick) and Theresa McFadden (Gary).
For nearly 35 years, Juanita dedicated her career to the Child Nutrition Department of Poudre School District. Her work reflected her nurturing spirit and commitment to caring for children and families within her community.
Outside of work, Juanita found joy in life’s simple and meaningful moments. She loved completing the Sunday New York Times crossword puzzle, a ritual that brought her both challenge and satisfaction. She also enjoyed watching game shows like Wheel of Fortune, Family Feud and Jeopardy. She treasured day trips with her husband to Black Hawk, enjoying time together and creating memories side by side. Juanita was known for her beautiful and infectious smile, one that could instantly warm a room and make others feel at ease.
Juanita was also well known for her famous pork green chili and for hosting holidays with her family where she always ensured everyone was fed, welcomed, and surrounded by love. Juanita took great pride in the home she thoughtfully designed and beautifully decorated, creating a warm and inviting space for all who gathered. Her home was the heart of many celebrations and will forever be remembered as a place of warmth, laughter, and togetherness.
Above all, Juanita will be remembered for her deep love for her family, her generous heart, and the joy she brought into the lives of many. Her legacy of love, dedication, and family will live on through her children, grandchildren, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
The family will be hosting a celebration of life on January 31, 2026 at the Budweiser Brewery Biergarten 2685 Busch Dr., Fort Collins, CO 80524 (north of the brewery entrance) from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. A light lunch will be served. For any questions, please contact Kenny Rodriguez at (970) 227-0304.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Juanita’s memory to the Food Bank of Larimer County. https://foodbanklarimer.org
