Lela Gertrude Smith, 93, went to be with her Lord January 14, 2014 at her home in Greeley, Colorado, surrounded by her family. Lela was born to Perry and Ethyl Baker April 14, 1920 in Dexter, Kansas. She was raised in Hutchinson, Kansas. The family moved to Ft. Collins December 1949.
She married Ernest Claude Smith August 4, 1940 in Jasper County Missouri. Lela was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, 3 sisters, one son (Danny), infant daughter (Lela Elaine) who died at the age of six months, and three step sons.
She is survived by her children: Ernest (Judy) of Springfield, Missouri; Teresa “Tracy” Shaw (Norman) of Ronan, Montana; Jerry Smith (Barbara) of LaPorte; Roxy Pitner (Art) of Greeley; Philip (Barbara) of Severence; Rebecca “Becky” Smith (Ken ) of Ft. Collins; Judy Niesent (Lonnie) of Loveland; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren; great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
