A lifelong Colorado native, Margaret was born in Johnstown in 1924. She was a graduate of Loveland High School and attended business school in Greeley. Margaret worked for the Registrar’s Office at Colorado State University, which is where she met her late husband, Dr. Clair Lee. The two were married on August 26, 1951. While Dr. Lee practiced veterinary medicine in Montana and Colorado, Margaret stayed at home with their five children.
She was an active member of the Auxiliary to the Colorado State University Student Chapter of the American Veterinary Medical Association, First United Methodist Church, and Colorado Tennis Association. She enjoyed weekly Bible studies with a group of her close friends. Margaret also volunteered her time to help with both Boy and Girl Scout troop activities and badges for her son and daughters. She enjoyed cooking, baking, cross-country skiing, hiking, walking, and her favorite sport of tennis, which she played until age 84. She also loved watching the birds they fed in the backyard of their home, and time spent with the family dogs.
Margaret is survived by five children, Marsha Carfield of Fort Collins, CO; Lorraine Lee of Colorado Springs, CO; Doug Lee and wife Wendy of Fort Collins, CO; Suzanne Paterson and husband John of Colorado Springs, CO; and Angela Lawrence of Lakewood, CO. Other survivors include six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
