After a 15-year battle with multiple myeloma cancer, Paul Thomas Toohey, 80 passed away at home surrounded by family on May 26th in Windsor, CO. A celebration of life is pending based on Church access.
Paul was born on September 12th, 1939 in Grand Island, NE to Paul and Jane Toohey. He graduated from Grand Island High School in 1957. Paul continued his education at Kearney State College prior to beginning his 23-year management career with JC Penney.
After leaving Penney’s he worked for Gibson’s Discount Center and then managed several retirement facilities, ending his career with Walgreens in Windsor.
Paul married the love of his life, Connie, in August 1959 and together they raised three daughters. He was an active member in the Brush Colorado Chamber of Commerce. Paul had a passion for all sports, playing golf, football, basketball, tennis and bowling throughout his life. He was very competitive and loved playing cards and board games with his family and friends. Not a Sunday went by that he was not watching the Rockies or Bronco’s on TV.
Paul will be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor. He served as coach and mentor to his daughters in sports and life. Upon becoming a Grandpa, he was so proud of his two Grandsons and attended all of their activities and sporting events on a regular basis.
Paul is survived by his wife of sixty years, Connie, two daughters, Tammy (Jim) Toohey, Michele (Steve) Hall, and grandchildren Barry and Dalton Hall all of Fort Collins. In addition, he is survived by his sister, Mary Jane Garrison of Kearney, NE. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Paul and Jane Toohey and his daughter Teresa.
Paul loved attending both Trinity Lutheran Church in Fort Collins and Bethel Lutheran Church in Windsor.
