

Phillip was born in Oakland, Iowa on November 2nd, 1939, the son of Robert and Francenia Bane. He grew up in Oakland, working on the family farm, and graduated from Oakland High School. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force, working as a cartographer during his term of service. He worked hard all his life as a farmer and an entrepreneur.
In May of 1961, Phillip married Sherryl Brandes. Together they welcomed three wonderful children: Kirk, Andrew, and Tonya. They raised their children in Oakland and later relocated to Colorado. Phillip and Sherryl eventually parted ways. Phillip loved his kids. He was a very supportive father who would do anything for his children. He was a proud grandfather. He loved watching his grandkids grow and being an active part in their lives. He liked to go big as a dad and granddad. He loved grand ideas and grand gestures. It was always important to him that his family knew how much he loved them.
Phillip was the kind of man that was easy to talk to and get to know. He was very warm and engaging. He was intelligent and creative and liked to share his ideas with others. He was kind, loving, and compassionate. He was also very encouraging and supportive. Phillip was a highly motivated individual, always undeterred. He remained active throughout his life and enjoyed regular exercise and bicycling. He was artistic, wrote poetry, and enjoyed photography. He was interested in aviation and drone technology, and loved history, music, and business. Phillip was active in 4-H, the United Methodist Church, and was a Mason.
He was a beloved father and grandfather, and a good friend to many. He is dearly missed by his sons Kirk Bane, and Andrew Bane (Jennifer); daughter Tonya Barber; and grandchildren Grant Bane, Amanda Barber, Olivia Bane, Charlie Barber, Lucy Bane, Evelyn Bane, and Lillian Bane. Phillip is also survived by his niece Christy Burgess (Eddie Dalton) and his nephew Tyler; as well as dear friends Steve & Gina Batton (and family), and by the family dog, Winston. He is preceded in death by his son-in-law Scott Barber, sister Julie Burgess and her husband Ed, and by his parents.
Phil will be honored with a Military Graveside Service, held privately in accordance with his wishes, and laid to rest with his son-in-law, Scott Barber, at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Fort Collins.
