Ralph P. Lagoni, M.D.

Ralph P. Lagoni, M.D., 88, of Fort Collins, CO passed away on August 25, 2009 at the Fort Collins Healthcare Center.He was born on July 19, 1921 in Davenport, IA, to Harry C. and Stella D. (Soehren) Lagoni. He was a graduate of Davenport High School, received his B.S. Degree from St. Ambrose College and his M.D. Degree from the University of Iowa â?? College of Medicine in 1950. He served in the United States Marine Corps as a fighter pilot, in the South Pacific during WWII receiving his commission in August of 1943. He married Jean Hoepner on August 9, 1945 in Davenport, IA. Ralph was in private practice in Eldridge, IA for 23 years and a staff physician at the University of Arizona Student Health Care Center for 9 years. He was Past President of the Scott County Medical Society in Iowa. He was a Charter Member of Faith Lutheran Church in Eldridge, IA, the Eldridge Lions Club and the Rotary Club. He was also a member of the Streams in the Desert Lutheran Church in Tucson, AZ. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jean Lagoni; a daughter, Linda Manire; and a son, Peter (wife Laurel) Lagoni. Also survived by granddaughters, Julie Manire (Russ) Hovland, Bryn Lagoni and Kaia Lagoni; and great-grandchildren, Jack and Ava Hovland.He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, and a daughter, JoAnn.Cremation was completed by Resthaven Funeral Home in Fort Collins, CO. Inurnment will take place at the Davenport Memorial Park in Davenport, IA. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to The Smile Train, P.O.
