Richard was born on March 11, 1943 in Denver, CO to Mary Ann Ridenour Flechsig and Bernard Christman. He attended Washington University in St. Louis and served as a juvenile corrections officer before returning to Colorado to pursue a career in real estate. He was an avid skier and hunter and loved living in the mountains near Glenwood Springs. Later, he became a self-employed video store owner. Richard was a passionate lover of movies, and enjoyed collecting rare stamps. He loved all animals, particularly cats and dogs, and shared his home with both most of his life. He was a wonderful father to two daughters, and a dear friend to many. He had a witty sense of humor and could always be counted on for a laugh. He will be deeply missed.
Richard was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Milton Flechsig. He is survived by his daughters, Abigail Christman (Steven) Hull and Laura (Steven) Zaccari; granddaughter, Clara Zaccari; and his beloved care staff, Jakob Philemon, Jennifer Edwards, Laura Stratford, and Lacey Bigler.
No services will be held at this time. The family intends to privately honor Richard’s life at a later date by returning his cremated remains to his favorite place on earth, Sunlight Mountain in Glenwood Springs.
