Wayne was born to Anna and George Thorn in Loveland, Colorado on February 25, 1931.
He attended college at the University of Denver, where after earning his accounting degree, moved to the Chicago area where he met his wife of 58 years, Carleen Ekstrom. They moved back to Fort Collins, Colorado where they raised their family.
Wayne was an accountant for Colorado State University for many years until he retired. He was passionate about playing golf, watching football with his grandsons, and traveling.
He was absolutely the Anchor of his family and held all of us together. There truly has never been a kinder, gentler, generous man than Wayne. His family and friends will miss him deeply.
Wayne is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Carleen; his two daughters, Dianne and son-in-law, Ed, Lisa and son-in-law, Mike; five grandsons, Landon, Lance, Colton, Cody and granddaughter-in-law Cassie, Austin and his great grandson, Zechariah.
A celebration of Wayne’s life will be held at 3:00 pm, Tuesday October 17th at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 1200 South Taft Hill Road.
