As you celebrate the life of a selfless and caring man ,may the God of all comfort cause you to have peace. Isaiah 34:18 says: "Jehovah is close to the brokenhearted; He saves those who are crushed in spirit".  And  I hope that it helps to know that others care.





Zach was so proud to be a member of Areawide Civil Patrol. See...Zach was the kind of guy who didn't simply sit back and do nothing as he bemoaned his war-wounds. He did everything he could to help others and his community. Like so many veterans, it distressed him that he nearly lost his life to serve his country, and yet there were low-life criminals plaguing our neighborhoods. So Zach did Zach. Zach was a protector. He was the knight in battered but shiny armor who would try to make his community a safer place. Zach went out of his way to help troubled and homeless teens in our area and help to set them on a path to better self-care and learning to be productive members of society. Knowing Zach, I can imagine that this was done - not in the usual adult talking down to the troubled teen way - but as an equal human being who just happens to be older and has seen some major bad things in his time. See...I didn't know about that part of Zach. He wasn't one to go around bragging about helping others and tooting his own horn to get people to admire him. I already had a LOT of respect for Zach, but hearing about him helping these disadvantaged kids, well...I think that's when I really lost it, because it seemed to quadruple the pain of losing such a fine man - whom I barely knew, but have come to respect even more than I already did. You will be missed, Zach. You are truly one of God's warriors.

Zach was so compassionate about life, people and animals.   He sent a picture of him with his newly gained kitten, sitting on his head. The smile on his face could light up a room. I will miss him forever.
