Cecil “Mac” McCormick passed away Sunday September 11, 2022, at his home in Fullerton California. Mac was born February 12, 1932, in Jacksonville, Florida to Newton and Odessa McCormick. He was 90 years old at the time of his death.
Mac grew up in Lake City Florida with his two sisters graduating from Landon High School in 1950. Shortly thereafter Mac served his country in the United States Marine Corps receiving an honorable discharge in 1955. As a 1st Lieutenant Mac was awarded the National Service Defense Medal prior to his release from the Armed Forces.
Mac then attended the University of Florida, earning a BS in Business Administration in 1958. He began his banking career thereafter, rising to become manager of the Ft. Lauderdale office of Bluh and Company.
Mac married Betty Moore McCormick and had two daughters, Bridget and Sharon, while living in Florida. Mac later met and married Marie McCormick, having a son, John McCormick.
In the 1960’s Mac’s banking career took him to Southern California where he joined United California Bank in Los Angeles. In 1975 he was promoted to Vice President of United California Bank. Later in his career he worked for Resolution Trust Corporation providing assistance to various independent banks.
In 1992 Mac married Irene Linduski and relocated to Fullerton, California where he lived until his passing. Mac loved outdoor activities, especially trout fishing, and owned an orchard in Lucerne Valley where he grew peaches, nuts and other produce. He loved to go to farm shows and spend time at his orchard with his grandchildren pruning and harvesting his orchard and making smores over the campfire.
Mac was a devoted husband, father-in-law and “grandpa” to his grandchildren, always eager to attend their swim meets, baseball games and other sporting events. If there was a birthday, graduation, wedding or any significant event in the lives of his extended family, Mac was sure to be there.
He was also a good friend to many in the Fullerton community and Fullerton Senior Center. He enjoyed taking morning walks with Irene and friends at the Tri-City Park and having regular Wednesday lunches with his “buddies”.
Mac was a devoted Christian man and could be found each morning at the kitchen or dining room table studying his Bible and doing his devotionals. His devotion to prayer and scripture reading have been a source of inspiration and guidance for all of us who admired his faithfulness. Mac also continually supported his Church by assisting with the food bank, folding bulletins and doing whatever was needed at any time.
Mac was predeceased by Betty McCormick, daughters Bridget and Sharon McCormick, Marie McCormick and Irene Linduski McCormick. He is remembered and cherished by 4 step-daughters, their spouses, and son: Diane & Allen Regehr, Karen & Dorcey Abshier, Kathy & David Agarth, Nancy & David Gribble, and son John McCormick; 15 grandchildren and their spouses: Nathan, Jonathan & Kirsten, Andrew, Katelyn & Cody, Kellianne & Ramsey, Karli & Bobby, Dorcey & Olivia, Julie & Casey, Kim, Katie & Graham, Josh & Kayla, Matthew, Michael & Laura, Daniel, and Nicole; and 14 great-grandchildren: Evelyn, Charleigh, Beau, Raye, Henrietta, Bert, Teddy, William, Audrey, Ellis, Reese, Taylor, Teigan, and Mya.
