

Charles Timothy Hinkle, affectionately known as Tim, passed away on December 11, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on August 27, 1941, Tim was a beloved and faithful individual, known for his kind-hearted, loyal, patient, thoughtful, devoted, and compassionate nature. He resided in Placentia, California.
Tim was the son of Charles Bartley Hinkle and Barbara Kuhn Atlar and grew up in Palm Springs, California. He attended St. Teresa School in Palm Springs and Villanova Preparatory High School in Ojai, California. He went on to graduate from the University of Southern California in 1962, where he was a member of the Delta Sig Fraternity Phi.
His career included service in the National Guard and U.S. Army from 1963 to 1969, with postings at Ft. Ord and Ft. Gordon as part of the Military Police. Tim was a dedicated professional in the medical equipment and care industry, thriving in his role as a business and salesman. He enjoyed being outside, making calls, and listening to his favorite road music, which included Motown and country.
Tim married Mary Frances Tormey on July 11, 1964, and together they raised four children. He was also blessed with five grandchildren and welcomed many "extra" kids into their home, providing them with safety and love. He was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Placentia, serving as a minister of the Eucharist and participating in the St. Vincent de Paul Society and Orange Diocese Cursillo.
In the community, Tim was known for his involvement in youth sports. He coached in the Junior United Soccer Association during the early years of American soccer and became renowned for his witty news writing for the West Placentia Little League. He was a lifelong U.S.C. fan, often seen cheering from the bleachers and giving a sign of peace or a "fight on" gesture.
Tim leaves behind his loving wife Mary, sons Matthew, David, and Andrew, daughter Sarah, and sister Susan Hinkle of Santa Barbara. The family extends their gratitude to Delfin Yuvienco and Rod Ursua for the kind and loving care provided to Tim over the past four years.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, located at 717 Bradford Ave, Placentia, CA 92870 . A committal service will follow at 2:00 pm at Queen of Heaven Cemetery & Mortuary, 2161 Fullerton Rd, Rowland Heights, CA 91748.
