Conrad Lawrence Huyg of Fullerton, Ca passed away on April 29, 2026. He was born October 10th, 1938, in Bellflower, Ca to Albert and Marie Huyg, immigrants from the Netherlands. He lived his early life on a dairy farm in Artesia, attending Our Lady of Fatima grade school and Artesia High School. He excelled in shop classes that helped develop additional skills throughout his life.
He enlisted in the United States Coast Guard in 1959 serving as a boiler tender aboard the US Pontchatrain, patrolling the waters between Long Beach and Hawaii. He received an honorable discharge in January 1963 and subsequently returned to the Los Coyotes Ranch dairy farm in Artesia.
His work moved from the dairy farm into the dairy plant, developing into a career that lasted his entire life. Advancement opportunities through work brought him and his young family to Washington state and Northern California. He worked for several companies, advancing and using his natural abilities for mechanical troubleshooting and problem solving to support his family at a career that he found rewarding.
He enjoyed long drives and travelled all over the world. As a youth, he travelled with his parents to Europe and eventually to the Netherlands, where he attended grade school for one year. His adventures included travelling with friends throughout Europe, multiple drives to visit Californian Missions, visits to family and friends, and cruises in his later years. He and Judy traveled to Alaska, Canada, Hawaii, Mexico, the East Coast, the Caribbean, Spain, Italy, New Zealand and South America through the Panama Canal. There were also memorable rafting trips through the Grand Canyon on more than one occasion. He always seemed to be in a hurry to get there but enjoyed the adventure and trip along the way.
When at home he always kept himself busy, wood working, collecting fishing poles, and gardening. He approached home projects with a solid skill set and energy that served him throughout his life. He was never shy about tackling improvement projects. He taught his boys to play cribbage at an early age, a game they continue to play.
Conrad is survived by his wife of 28 years, Judy Pavlik-Huyg, their children John and Monica Huyg (Olivia and Sophia) of Idaho, Mike and Liz Huyg (Melissa and Jeff, Andrew and Alicia and 3 great grandchildren, Jacob, and Joshua) of Colorado, David and Shannon Huyg (Julia and Daisy, Quinn and Colin) of Idaho, Dennis Pavlik (deceased), and Jennifer and Chris Ober (Logan) of Oregon, John and Courtney Pavlik (Anthony) of California.
His family and friends will miss him dearly, and we all have been blessed to be a part of his life.
