Don Beck was born on January 12, 1955, in Phoenix, Arizona, to his loving mother, Barbara, and his biological father, Don, and was later raised by his adoptive father, Andre. The oldest of three children, Don grew up alongside his siblings, Christine and Michael, and from an early age carried a quiet sense of responsibility and care for those he loved.
Don lived a life guided by curiosity, kindness, and an enduring love for both nature and knowledge. As a boy, Don earned the rank of Eagle Scout, an achievement that laid the foundation for the man he became. The principles he learned guided him throughout a life defined by safety, exploration, and quiet courage. He found joy in photography and archery, passions that reflected his patience, focus, and appreciation for the beauty of the world. A lifelong explorer at heart, he traveled widely and collected not just experiences, but friendships and lasting connections wherever life took him.
It was through archery that Don met the love of his life, Michelle, on their college archery team. Their connection was immediate , and they were married on July 11, 1981, in Southern California. Together they built a life rooted in love, partnership, and adventure, welcoming two beloved daughters, Kaitlin and Kelly. Don devoted himself fully to his family, working tirelessly to provide them with safety, security, and a childhood rich in love, curiosity, and shared experiences.
One of the greatest joys of Don’s later years was his grandson, Walter. Wally was truly a gift to him, bringing new light, laughter, and meaning into his life. Don's face would brighten the moment Wally walked into the room, and their time together was filled with a love that words can hardly describe.
His compassion extended far beyond people. Throughout his life, Don adopted many animals, caring for each with the same loyalty and tenderness he showed his family. To him, every life mattered.
Don was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he found strength, comfort, and community. His faith shaped his values and enriched his life with friendships that became family. He also pursued a passion for amateur (HAM) radio, achieving the highest civilian credential. An accomplishment that reflected both his technical brilliance and his love of learning.
Don passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones. Above all, Don was a loving husband, a devoted father and grandfather, a loyal brother and friend, and a gentle soul whose presence made others feel safe, valued, and understood. He gave generously of his time, his knowledge, and his heart. Those who knew him were better for it.
His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the family he cherished, the friends he inspired, and the love he gave so freely. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
