August 5th, 1947-December 4th 2025 Don was born in Oklahoma City Oklahoma to Kathleen Donovan of Wexford, Ireland and Carl Williams of Carne, Oklahoma. Carl and Kathleen met while Carl was stationed in England during WW2. Carl and Kathleen married and had two children; Don and his sister Veronica Martinez of Texas.
After graduating from High school, Don joined the US Air Force and served 8 years with an Honorable discharge in 1974. After scoring an extremely high aptitude scores, the Air Force sent Don to accelerated electronics school at Keesler AFB in Biloxi, Ms. After completing basic electronics, Don was trained in repair and use of microwave transmitters, receivers and transceivers.
In 1968, while stationed at Edwards AFB in Lancaster California, Don met the love of his life; his wife of 56 years Linda Leming. After getting married, Don served a one year deployment in Vietnam. They had two children, Kathleen and Elan Williams. After Don’s tour of Vietnam, he was stationed in Wichita Kansas (McConnell AFB) working in the 381st Titan 2 missile (ICBM) squadron; working on microwave communications equipment and their respective communication needs (stuff that was designed to work during a nuclear war). Once his 8 years of military service was completed, Don and Linda returned to Southern California where Don worked at Hughes Aircraft working on high end transmitter and receiver components. Don followed his employment with Hughes by becoming an independent US government contractor working on Millimeter wave technology, testing all kinds of military aircraft with respect to air defense systems.
Calling Don a Techie would have been an insult to his technical abilities. He could troubleshoot and repair almost anything electronic. His two main hobbies were shooting pool and collecting HP scientific calculators. He kept his garage, with all his electronic stuff meticulously clean and in its correct place.
Don is survived by his wife of 56 years Linda Williams, daughter Kathleen Williams, son Elan Williams, and daughter-in-law Candice Fincher.
