She was born on October 28, 1945 in Nochistlán, Zacatecas, Mexico, the daughter of Hipólito and Cirila Ramírez. She died at age 78, on November 26, 2022 with her family by her side in Fullerton, California. Hermelinda was challenged in life by a chronic autoimmune disease and ultimately lost a battle to the aftermath of a heart attack.
She immigrated to the United States at the age of 27 and she lived a full and happy life in the City of Fullerton, always with a positive attitude no matter what circumstances she experienced. She was an active member of the Catholic Church community. Her hobbies and interests ranged from family, friends, cooking, gardening, sewing and reading different kinds of books, her favorite books were those of Catholic Saints. She devoted much of her time to her family and she was always the first to arrive at a party and the last to leave. She also shared her love of food, like a cheeseburger and fries, and her coffee, which always had to be piping hot and sugary. She loved long conversations on the phone with family and friends and when it was time to hang up, she would say goodbye and give a thousand blessings. Family and friends recall the countless number of gatherings at her house, where the doors were always open no matter how many guests. Somehow, there was always enough food and space for everyone. It was a place where everyone felt welcome. Hermelinda lived a simple and frugal life. She never put herself first, her time was constantly used to serve others. In her eyes, the most important things were her Catholic faith and her family. She never missed mass on Sundays, no matter where she was. She was virtual before virtual was a thing because she also watched daily mass on television. She also dutifully prayed the Rosary.
So today join Hermelinda and the angels in prayer saying:
Hail Mary, full of grace, The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst woman
And blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners, Now and at the hour of hour death.
Amen
Hermelinda was preceded in death by her parents Hipólito and Cirila. Her siblings, Justina, Rosario, José and Francisco. She is survived by her daughter Claudia, her grandchildren Jackson, Olivia and Eliana, and her siblings Refugio, Maria, Petra and Bulmaro. Hermelinda was strong, wise, faithful and fair and she touched so many people with her beautiful soul. She will be missed, but her spirit lives on in heaven, and in the smiles and hearts of all who knew her.
RIP sweet Linda
