Hobart Carlyle Roderick

Beloved father, friend, husband , grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away peacefully on August 24, 2011 @ St. Jude hospital from Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. Rod was born in Evanston Illinois on 9-13-29, second child to Carlyle & Betha Roderick. Brother to Robert(Bob) and together grew up in Mt. Prospect, Illinois. He enjoyed the outdoors, boy-scouts, space & flight studies, became an eagle-scout and eventually earned his degree in Physics from the University of Illinois. Moved in 1951 to San Diego, California for aerospace and electronic aircraft systems work. He met Betty Timmons, married in August 30, 1953 raised a family of four, and shared 53 years together. Rod enjoyed his travels with his family, an avid history buff, sports & bridge. He is survived by his Son, Thomas Roderick & wife(Cindy), Daughter Ann Kressin & son in law(Lowell), Daughter Ellen & son in law(Kevin) Fritz. Grandchildren Maggie & Olivia Roderick; Skyler &(Lauren), Emily, Abbie Kressin; Todd & Catherine Fritz. Great grandchildren Max and Marius Kressin. Rod's youngest son David passed in 1996. Deceased brother Bob's son, Kirk &(Ellen) Gail are also living. A celebration of life & reception will be held at 10 am, saturday the 27th of August, at the Christ Lutheran church Brea
