John Willis Cline’s ship sailed from this ethereal plane to the next on November 23, 2018. His love for God, the US Navy, USC, the ocean and family was unparalleled. John served in WWII on the naval carrier USS Bennington as a Fireman First Class. After the war, he sailed the high seas for pleasure on the sloop, “Fop’s Delight.” He met his Irish match and married the beautiful yet indefatigable Donna Louise Robinson. Together they raised three children in the idyllic neighborhood of Sunny Hills where both Donna and John chose to live out their remaining days. John devoted himself to many charities – some would say too many, but his heart was big and love was an infinite resource for him. He was cherished by friends and family alike, always leaving a lasting impression after every encounter. He will be remembered for his entertaining stories, keen sense of wit, infectious laughter, baritone singing voice, cursing of Republicans, inappropriate jokes and endless devotion to the passions and people he cared most about.A Memorial mass will be 10 AM Monday, December 10, 2018 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fullerton. With a Miliatry burial at 1:31 PM at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside. He leaves behind to honor his memory, daughters Sharon Howard and Judy Sorenby; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and many other family and friends.
