

Patricia Marie Shuff passed away peacefully in her home on Christmas 2025 surrounded by her family. She was born in Manhattan, Kansas to Charles and Agnes Toy (Tauer). The Toy family moved to Hawthorne, California in the early days of World War II.
Pat graduated from Hawthorne High School in 1958 as her class Salutatorian.
Shortly after graduation Pat met Robert Edward (Bob) Shuff at a dance outside of the U.S. Marine Corps base at Twenty-Nine Palms. They eloped to Las Vegas, Nevada on November 8, 1958. After Bob’s 1960 honorable discharge the young couple moved to Hawthorne to start raising their family.
Teresa, Katherine, Robert, and Susan joined the family from 1961 to 1972. They moved to Fullerton in 1972 when the growing family needed a bigger house
Pat enjoyed being active as a Girl Scout leader and supporting her children’s activities in sports, FFA and 4H. She also supported Bob’s activities with Ironworkers Local 433 and the Minuteman Project.
Pat was a legal secretary for many years. She competed in Professional Legal Secretary competitions and typed more than 120 words per minute.
Pat and Bob were actively involved in the passage of California Proposition 187 in an effort to improve California’s enforcement of national immigration laws. This led to deeper interest in the Orange County and California Republican Party politics. Pat joined the Fullerton Republican Women Federated and served as president for many years and that led to her serving as president of the Orange County Federation of Republican Women. She also served on the Orange County Central Committee and the California Central Committee. Pat managed the North Orange County Republican Campaign Headquarters for many campaign cycles, often enlisting the help of her children and grandchildren.
Pat and Bob enjoyed their family, travel, and collecting art. They lost their son Rob in 2008 and Bob preceded Pat in death in 2018. She is survived by daughters Teresa Trujillo (Joe), Katherine Simpson, Susan Gapinski (Anthony), and grandchildren Stephen, Thomas, Michael, Sarah, and Robert Gapinski, Shane Simpson, and Christopher Trujilllo.
She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and she will be deeply missed.
