On August 4, 2014, Paul Wesley Miller, Jr. slipped away peacefully from the arms of his loving family into the arms of His Father in Heaven. He was born March 21, 1928 to Paul and Marie (Berkstresser) Miller in Los Angeles, California. He attended John C. Fremont High School where he first became introduced to the printing trade. Paul served in the U.S. Navy in 1952. He was stationed in the Pacific Islands during the Korean Conflict. After returning home he moved with his family to Oxnard, California where Paul attended Ventura Community College and met Mary Louise Thurman. They were later married September 6, 1955 in the LDS St. George Temple. Paul graduated with a degree in Graphic Arts from UC Santa Barbara College and later attended UCLA and Cal State LA where he completed his masters degree. Paul taught printing at Fullerton Community College for 32 years, fifteen of which he was Department Chairman. He grew to love not only the printing industry but also his many students and faculty members, some of which became life-long friends. After retiring, Paul continued to volunteer in the printing department for another 20 years. He received an award for Outstanding Volunteer in the Community for his many years of service at the college. He enjoyed spending time with his family, either camping in the mountains or body surfing at the beach. In later years he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. After retirement Paul and Mary served several missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, one of which was at the Grandin Press in Palmyra, NY, where he demonstrated how early printing presses were used. Paul also served in many other church assignments, including Bishop of a congregation which he especially grew to love. Paul is survived by his wife Mary, sisters Jane (husband Pete Terrana) and Rosemarie, and four sons: Paul Wesley III, Matthew (wife Debbie), Mark, and John (wife Donna), 15 grandchildren and their spouses, and 6 great grandchildren. Paul will be greatly missed for his happy countenance, bright smile and genuine love for all people. He was known affectionately to the grandchildren as Papa and was loved by everyone. He will be greatly missed. A celebration of Pauls life will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at the LDS Stake Center located at 2225 North Euclid Avenue, Fullerton, CA, 92835. All who knew Paul are invited to visit with his family prior to the services from 9:30 " 10:15 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the PIASC RAISE Foundation (http://www.piasc.org/raise/) which benefits the graphic arts industry and the education of students pursuing a career in the printing industry.
