I am standing upon the seashore. At my side, a ship billows his majestic sails into the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. He appears grandiose and strong as he heads swiftly into the horizon. And just at the moment when someone at my side says: There, he is gone! There are others watching him coming and other voices ready to take up the glad shout: Here he comes! Philip S. Rivera was born on August 12, 1928 in New York City, New York. His life on this earth spanned 85 years and on October 22, 2013, his Lord and Savior rejoiced at his arrival home. Philip began his service to his country in the United States Navy. His love of country and community led him to a career in law enforcement with the Los Angeles Police Department and he proudly served as an L.A. county deputy district attorney. Philip retired as a private practice attorney in Northern California. Although, his life was decorated with great accomplishments, his most cherished moments was spent as a brother, father, grand-father, great-grandfather, uncle and cousin. His life was shared with the one whom he loved most in this life, his beautiful bride, Joyce. They shared 38 years together. Phillip S. Rivera was a believer in Jesus Christ and his life reflects the Saviors footprint. In his final moments, there is no doubt, that the Lord he loved, wrapped His arms around him, and shouted joyfully to the heavens, Here he comes! Philip Santiago Rivera will be laid to rest with military honors at: Riverside National Cemetery on Friday, November 1, 2013 at 10 am.
