

Alexander’s life was dedicated to science and relentless pursuit of knowledge which he shared gladly with his family, friends and colleagues. He was an exceptional and multifaceted person with vast amounts of knowledge in literature, history, arts and sciences. He had a great capacity for kindness and a wicked sense of humor. He will be forever remembered by those whose lives he has touched during his life.
Alexander was a world-recognized expert in theoretical and computational problems of optical radiometry. He held his Master's degrees with honor in Physics and in Measurement Systems. His Ph.D. work was dedicated to optical and thermophysical properties of cavity sources and detectors of optical radiation. Until his last day, he continued working on the 2nd volume of the book on the fundamentals of Blackbody Radiometry which he was co-authoring with his life-long mentor and friend, Dr. Victor Sapritsky.
Visitation will be at the De Vol Funeral Home in Gaithersburg on Saturday, January 29th from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm. Interment will be at All Souls Cemetery in Germantown, Maryland on the same day at 12:30pm.
