Ann M Fox

Of Georgetown passed peacefully with her family at her side on June 12, 2021. She was 90 years old. Raised in Brooklyn, with her two sisters and one brother. Ann was proud to be from Brooklyn, often saying that's where she got her toughness and her spunk. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She moved throughout the country 11 times for her late husband's career, gathering many lifelong friends along the way. She and Dick were married for 33 years before his death in 1988.

Ann was President of the Richard J. Fox Foundation, which she established in memory of her late husband to support prostate cancer awareness and research. She ran golf tournaments to support the Foundation for 25 years, raising millions of dollars for Georgetown Medical Center to use for research and to provide men with free prostate cancer screenings. Becoming one of the largest free screening programs in the United States. Ann, a devout catholic, was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Georgetown and a Dame in the Order of Malta.

Throughout her life, she traveled the world. She brought her family on trips to Rome, London, and a pilgrimage to Lourdes with the Order of Malta. She was always ready to volunteer with worthy causes, including the Smithsonian, The High Museum and The Hospitality and Information Service for diplomats (T.H.I.S.). Ann was a fabulous hostess, loved to entertain, and was a fantastic cook. She was very welcoming, and her door was always open for anyone that wanted to stop by for a glass of wine.

Ann is survived by her three daughters, Mary Pat Fox, Ann Marie Fox, and Joan Fox-Tassinari; her son-in-law, Michael Tassinari; and her grandchildren, Michaella Tassinari Bowser (Michael Bowser), Katie Tassinari, and Christopher Tassinari.

Services will be held Friday, June 18, 2021 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 3513 N Street, NW, Washington, DC 20007 beginning with a viewing at 10 a.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m.
