Antonio Pessoa Santos

Antonio Pessoa Santos passed away peacefully on March 24, 2023. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Idalina, as well as his daughter, Maria Morrison and his sons, Tony Jr. and Luiz Santos. He was a devoted and proud grandfather of Olivia, Emma, Ethan, Andrew, Duncan and Devon. Antonio was born in Portugal on July 23, 1928, and was always proud of his Portuguese heritage, and especially proud of his American citizenship.

He left Portugal as a young man with plans to eventually reunite with the love of his life and childhood sweetheart, Idalina, in the United States. He worked hard in various capacities and eventually realized the American dream to open his own successful business. Together he and Idalina welcomed 3 children and six grandchildren into their lives.

Antonio enjoyed friendships in the Portuguese community, the business community, the Rotarians and his Catholic Parishes. He was known to everyone as a very generous business man, a loving father and husband and was always quick to enjoy a good laugh with his friends and family.

Friends may call at DeVol Funeral Home, 10 East Deer Park Drive, Gaithersburg, MD on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 from 2pm to 4pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 917 Montrose Road, Rockville, MD on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at 10am. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Silver Spring, MD.
