Barbara B. Andersen

Barbara B. Andersen. a fifty year resident of Washington Grove, MD passed away on April  13 at Frederick Memorial Hospital, Frederick, MD. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, in 1932, Barbara was the second child of Drs. Stanley T. and Betty W. Brooks, adjunct professors of entomology at Carnegie Mellon Institute. Barbara was the beloved wife of Richard E. Andersen, and they were married for 46 years. Barbara leaves devoted sons Steven Preston and his beloved wife Cheryl, Stuart Preston, (granddaughter Samantha Preston) and beloved daughter-in-law Rita Surya. Barbara also adored niece Lori Huffman and Lori?s two daughters Brooke and Lindsay.

The professional pursuits of Barbara?s parents led to  a fascinating and peripatetic life for Barbara and her siblings, living and attending school in Nova Scotia, England, and (the then) West Berlin.  She attended Montgomery College and worked for the Bechtel Corporation in Gaithersburg, MD. , retiring as a Cost Engineer, after 20 years with the firm. After retirement, Barbara worked as an assistant office manager for Custom Carpet, Inc. on Airpark Road in Gaithersburg, MD.

A Funeral service will be held at DeVol Funeral Home, 10 East Deer Park Drive, Gaithersburg, MD 20877 on Saturday, April 16, 2016  at 10 a.m.  Interment Parklawn Memorial Park Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, a donation in Barbara?s memory to the Hospice at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick MD. Is encouraged by the family.
