Benjamin Covington Grant, born on July 15, 1984, in Green Bay, Wisconsin, died on June 8, 2017, in
Washington, DC. Son of Maria Grant, and predeceased by his father Clovis C. Grant and brother
Matthew Caulfield Grant, Ben attended Purdue and Michigan State Universities and had recently been
admitted to Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism. Ben spent the last few years
of his life working on his father’s and uncle’s family ranch in Cordes Junction, Arizona. Intelligent,
handsome and charismatic, with a wicked sense of humor, Ben struggled with the disease of addiction
much of his adult life. A private service will be held in his memory. The family requests that in lieu of
flowers donations be made in Ben's name towards addiction research at The Scripps Research Institute at
www.scripps.edu/tribute/home/tribute.
