

Dr. Youssefi was born in Tehran, Iran, and graduated from the University of Tehran Medical School in 1964. He completed his internship and residency at the Washington Hospital Center, in Washington, D.C. In 1973, he returned to Tehran and established the Ophthalmology Department at the Reza Pahlavi Hospital, where he trained both Iranian medical students and American residents and fellows on exchange from the Washington Hospital Center. Additionally, he was a consulting ophthalmologist at the U.S. Army Hospital in Tehran.
He moved to the U.S. permanently in 1979, opening a solo practice. He was beloved by his patients for his compassion and kindness.
A loving husband, father and grandfather, Dr. Youssefi’s many interests included playing piano, ballroom dancing, gardening and cooking the Persian dishes of his youth.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Davis; his daughters, Azita Youssefi (Joseph Zielinski) and Annahita Youssefi; his granddaughter, Nadia Beacham; his sister, Bluher Youssefi Bonehie (Manutchehr Bonehie); and his brothers, Bahram Youssefi (Annelie Landgren) and Bahman Youssefi (Beate Bause)
