Dorothy Theresa Mudano

Dorothy T. Mudano of Tequesta, Florida, formerly of Gaithersburg, Maryland died peacefully in her home on October 26, 2024. She is preceded by her husband of sixty-five years Joseph P. Mudano, Sr. and her daughter Darby A. Melchionda.

She is survived by her son Joseph, Jr. and his wife Ann Marie, her son-in-law Pasquale and five grandchildren; Anita, Marina (and her husband Enrico), Raffaella (and her husband Elio), Joseph, James and two great grandchildren Arianna and Marta.

She was born and raised on Long Island, New York and attended Adelphi University where she received a teaching degree. Dorothy taught elementary school in both Nassau County, New York and Montgomery County, Maryland for thirty-five years, positively influencing the hearts and minds of her many students.

Dorothy will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and pleasant demeanor. She always looked for the good in everyone and made all feel welcomed and loved. She was well traveled and enjoyed her many trips to Italy visiting and vacationing with her daughter Darby and family. In 2019 at age ninety-one she attended her granddaughter Marina’s wedding in Italy.

All those who knew her are filled with wonderful memories of her kindness and love. Rest in peace our beautiful and beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great grandmother, teacher and friend.

A mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at 11:00am at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 9000 Warfield Rd, Gaithersburg, MD. Followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Silver Spring, MD.
