Frances was the beloved wife of 56 years of the late David Sorensen and the daughter of the late Thomas and Mildred Walsh.
Frances is survived by her children David (and his wife, Kristin) Sorensen, Erik Sorensen (and his wife, Melinda Weir); Michael (and his wife, Stacy) Sorensen and Mary Jane (and her husband, George) Reese. She is also survived by four of her fourteen siblings, fifteen grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Frances was born in Brooklyn, New York on October 2, 1937. She was a proud graduate of Bishop McDonnell Memorial High School and lived in Brooklyn until 1976, when she and David moved their family to Ramsey, New Jersey. Upon moving to New Jersey, Frances began a fulfilling twenty-eight-year career at Minolta Corporation, where she managed logistics and international shipping at their United States headquarters. She and David retired in 2005 and moved to Bethesda to be near their daughter Mary Jane and her family.
Known as “Gogo,” Frances was immensely proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and each of them brought her unique joy. She and her husband David cherished and adored each other and the life they made together. They greatly enjoyed their travels to Austria, Norway, Sweden, England, France, and Italy, and returned several times to Bermuda, where they had celebrated their honeymoon. They also loved to simply “go for a drive,” the destination being far less important than the time spent together. Frances was a life-long learner, particularly interested in history and geography and a voracious reader of an impressive variety of books, especially a well-constructed mystery.
