
Frank L. Hall, Sr. (90) of Sunrise Assisted Living – Montgomery Village passed away peacefully April 18, 2018. Frank was born in Arlington, VA on May 31, 1927 to Pinkney E. and Lillie I. (Hutcherson) Hall and was the youngest of eleven brothers and sisters. On July 21, 1944 Frank married his sweetheart Betty J. Pugh but within days Frank was inducted into the U.S. Army Cavalry and served in Austria at the end of World War II. Upon mustering out of the Army Frank returned to civilian life and resumed the career he started in 1944 as a firefighter with Bethesda (MD) Fire Department. He worked for Bethesda Fire Department for 32 years progressing through all ranks and retiring as fire chief in July 1976. Frank was passionate in advocating community fire prevention activities organizing and facilitating events in the Bethesda community and was honored by the Bethesda Jr. Chamber of Commerce with a Distinguished Service Award in 1959 for his community work. In retirement Frank drove a school bus for Montgomery County Public Schools retiring again and spending his time with family and helping as a volunteer at Montgomery General Hospital and serving as Trustee and Chaplain for Silver Spring Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2562. Frank is survived by his children Frank L. Hall Jr. and wife Ann, Pat “Susie” Hall, Linda L. Love and husband Mike; grandchildren – Kimberli Clabaugh, Scott Nimetz and wife Lynn and Kristin Bohn and husband Chad, Andrea Love and Amanda Love and husband Stephen Willingmyre; great-grandchildren Zachary Clabaugh, Brooke and Jadyn Nimetz, Logan and Corbin Bohn and one surviving sibling Virginia “Alice” Kuster.
Friends may call at DeVol Funeral Home, 10 East Deer Park Dr., Gaithersburg, MD 20877 on Sunday April 22, 2018 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM where a funeral service will be held on Monday April 23, 2018 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park, Rockville, MD.
